Kidepo Valley sits in Uganda’s remote northeast, hard against the borders of South Sudan and Kenya, and receives a fraction of the visitors of the country’s southern parks. Two broad valleys, Narus and Kidepo, are ringed by mountains and bush that stays wild for its isolation as much as its game.
It is the only place in Uganda to see cheetah and ostrich, alongside large herds of buffalo, elephant and a long list of predators. The Karamojong people who live around the park maintain traditions rarely encountered elsewhere in the country.
