Mgahinga Gorilla National Park occupies the Ugandan slopes of the Virunga range, where three dormant volcanoes — Muhabura, Gahinga and Sabinyo — rise straight out of the forest. It is Uganda’s smallest park, and one of its most dramatic.
A single habituated gorilla family crosses freely between Uganda, Rwanda and the DRC, so trekking here is quieter and less certain than in Bwindi, but sits alongside golden monkey tracking and the volcanic scenery that draws hikers up Sabinyo’s ridge.
