Entebbe to Jinja
A short drive east reaches Jinja, on the shore of Lake Victoria where the Nile begins its run north. The afternoon can be spent at the source itself, marked by a small monument and boat launch point.
This route sets a day of white-water rafting at the Source of the Nile against a week of wildlife: game viewing at Lake Mburo, gorilla trekking in Bwindi and a final stretch of quiet water at Lake Bunyonyi.
It is built for travellers who want their safari balanced with something more physical, the Nile at Jinja offers some of the more consistent white water rafting on the continent, before the pace slows again for the forest.

A full day on the river covers a stretch of grade three to five rapids, broken by calmer sections for swimming and a riverside lunch. Half-day and shorter options are available for less experienced rafters.
The drive crosses back through Kampala and on to Lake Mburo National Park, Uganda’s smallest savannah park, reached by mid-afternoon in time for a first game drive.
A morning game drive across open acacia woodland is followed by an afternoon boat trip on the lake, bringing close views of hippo and waterbirds along the shoreline.
The road continues south-west through Mbarara and Kabale, climbing into the hills around Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and reaching Buhoma, on the forest’s northern edge, by early evening.
A guided trek into the forest follows a habituated gorilla family, with the walk’s length and difficulty set by the terrain the group is occupying that morning. An hour is spent in their company once found.
A guided walk with Batwa guides through the forest fringe covers traditional foraging, hunting and medicinal plant use, offering a different perspective on the same landscape covered on the previous day’s trek.
A short drive brings you to Lake Bunyonyi, where the afternoon is left open for a canoe trip between the lake’s terraced shoreline and small islands.
A flight from Kihihi or a drive north returns you towards Entebbe for onward travel, closing a route that ran from white water to forest to still water.
